Here’s a little Bobber Inception for you. By definition, a ‘bobber’ is a factory bike that’s been stripped down to decrease weight and improve performance. So this begs the question, if a factory builds a bobber, can you still ‘bob’ it? It seems that we have gone a few levels deeper to provide you with an answer, and that answer is a resounding ‘yupppp’.So what happens when a professional worker builds a factory bobber’s bike? This happens. Meet our humble customer and his newly bike, 2017 Kawasaki Vulcan S650.
The first step was the removal of the factory bodywork and not so cool. To replace the original bodywork we made a new tank, front and rear fender, seat and also battery box out of 1.2 mm galvanized plate. It’s a unique shape was designed to hug the flowing lines of the stock frame perfectly. Finished in metallic candy orange with gradation and silver simply line, it’s more suited to the bike than the factory tank. Touching the frame, we removed the original sub frame and make way and line with a new bodywork. This custom version we designed and built, scaled with only a single rider in mind.
To improve handling and the outdated original front wheel was replaced with aftermarket wheel 21X3.50 inch then treated with Shinko tire 120/70-21, for rear wheels we used 17X6.00 inch and wrapped with Bridgestone tire 190/50-17. Completing the last work, 15 mm fatbar handlebar was selected to provide ‘the enjoyment of riding’. Harley Davidson V-Rod headlight and stock Indicator was attached at the front. Custom 2-1-2 exhaust system using 304 stainless steel pipe and plate by SM Design was selected to drag up the classic theme with a strong sound. The final touch coming in the form of EMGO classic grips and MB Tech seat to complete the build.
The end result is nothing like the factory Vulcan S model while still retaining all the best features that Kawasaki have brought to the market. The end result is nothing like the factory Vulcan S model while still retaining all the best features that Kawasaki have brought to the market. This is what smart custom motorcycle is all about, adding form and function where it is needed and maintaining the things millions in R&D.
