JAPANESE BLAST – KAWASAKI W800 ’16

Written by Aries

We’re guessing you all know what a custom bike is, right? They’re the ones with all the wild and unique customized. Rigid frame with the bright colors, rabbit handlebars, front hub brakeless and also chrome skulls with the glowing eye. In another place the others have to fight to develop a horse power for their bike.

But what if you wanted a custom bike that didn’t look like, well, a custom bike? What if your aim was a customized yet classic machine that would look good today and in 2030? If that thought puts a light bulb above your head then you better check our today’s feature bike, a wildly mild 2016 Kawasaki W800, a Japanese Blast!!!.

The frame is standard but has been de-tabbed and boasts a tasty solid black scheme. Still using original front end but we changed an original rear shock and put a new progressive shock by Ohlins. The rear rim also happen to be standard, only front rim we changed with TK Japan 18X3.00 inch and it has been wrapped in Shinko E805 Big Block 120/80-18 & 150/70-18 and hung beneath trimmed down handmade fenders. Completing the project, EMGO classic handlebar and aftermarket classic handgrip was selected to provide ‘the enjoyment of riding’. The 5.75 inch DRL headlight, turn signals and tail light were mounted using custom brackets and hardware.

To finish off the bike we also built a custom, line stitched seat that hugs the rear loop of the frame and lowers the rider an inch closer to the road. A solid black paint, blacked out engine and a small section of 2 in 2 304 stainless steel exhaust custom give the bike it’s tough aesthetic which is balanced out with a well thought out selection of chrome and bare alloy components.

Looking at the finished bike now, We think We most like to customized classic W-Series. At first glance it seems to be a stock item but it actually isn’t. Far from it, We also like the flat side panels, as We never really cared for the chubby factory ones. And We really like how it rides; it’s really relaxed and comfy. There’s no stress, so it’s perfect for a long journey.
