THE FLUTTER – HONDA CB400SF ’98

Written by Aries

Much of the criticism leveled at this new generation of custom bikes concerns usability. Whether it be fenders, suspension travel or comfort, the main undercurrent to the comments is that the bikes just aren’t functional in the real world. But if there’s anyone who really cares about how they get a function and comfort, it’s a professional worker.  So what happens when a professional worker builds a custom bike? This happens. Meet Ngurah Subawa and his newly bike, 1998 Honda CB400SF.

When he bought his 1998 Honda CB400 Superfour with standard looking he was impressed with our built, so then he contacted us to completely change the look of his bike. He wanted us to build an industrial-looking bike, scrambler style but with some retro touches at the same time. The first step was to change the original rims with TK Japan Spoke rims 18X3.00 inch and 18X3.50 inch and wrapped with Shinko Big Block E804/805 120/80-18 and 150/70-18 for front and rear, and after that it was all up to us. After that we converted the original rear shock to a 360 mm Pollini Progressive rear shock. Up front we  still used an original, 41 mm telescopic front end with Brembo Caliper. Here comes the bodywork, we made a gastank, front and rear fender with a minimalist style made from 1.2 mm galvanized material. After the bodywork was done, Kym Studio made his move! We choose glossy grey from Sikkens and decorated with a red line like Japan Flag. Completing the last project, Fatbar handlebar and aftermarket handgrip was selected to provide ‘the enjoyment of riding’. The 7 Inch DRL headlight was attached at the front and custom 4 in 1 exhaust system by SM Design was selected to drag up the classic theme with a strong sound.

Do you know of a rider who has yet to appreciate the sublime beauty of riding a bike that is the only one of it’s kind in the world? You do? Then save them. Save them now. Do it for all of you. Do it for Studio Motor. But most of all, do it for us. And please welcome THE FLUTTER.
