The Cafe Racer scene in Indonesia is alive and kicking. Despite the unavailability of large capacity motorcycles and the high expense involved with purchasing parts from other countries, always tried to fabricating our own parts to meet customer demands. This is the latest cafe racer build by Studio Motor, 1998 Honda CB1000F based, inspired Modern Cafe Racer.
When the owner’s of this bike came to STUDIO MOTOR Workshop and bring an images for his project, He only said to change and build his bike like a modern cafe racer. After receiving instructions from the bikes owner to rebuild it in the style similar of the Japanese Cafe Racers. Our final design was a bike featured the desired classic looks with a touch of modern styling necessitated by limited local resources.
The bike’s hand formed custom tank and rear cowl are made from 1.2 mm galvanized plate and the beautifully finished seat was covered in house. The dimensions were modified to suit the larger Honda CB1000 frame. The shinny and mate black paint with silver striping and Honda words were done by Komet Studio in Jakarta, who finished the bodywork using Sikkens wood varnish, giving it a “permanent wet look effect” (that’s a first!). A set of more modern front end were taken from Suzuki GSXR-1000 and Brembo master caliper, were fit after we underwent some aesthetic customization to match the style of the rest of the build. Honda CB1000F original rims have been upgraded to TK spoke wheels 18X3.50 and 18X5.50 inch which are wrapped in Metzeler Marathon 130/70-17 and 200/55-17 for front and rear. Front and rear disc brakes provide more plenty of stopping power for the 1000 cc four and go perfectly with the bikes modern look. A set of clip on handlebars from a Suzuki GSXR-1000 with only the bare essential controls cling to the top of each fork tube and a Bates style custom headlight sits between them, mounted on the lower triple tree. Upgrades to the CB1000F performance come in from 4 in 2 custom stainless steel exhaust system.
With the build finished, there is only one thing left to do, and it is best summed up by us: “Let’s do the ton, brother!”
