Moto Guzzi is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer and the oldest European manufacturer in continuous motorcycle production. Established in 1921 in Mandello Del Lario, Italy, the company is noted for its historic role in Italy’s motorcycling manufacture, its prominence worldwide in motorcycle racing, and industry innovations—including the first motorcycle center stand, wind tunnel and eight-cylinder engine. Beside as one of Continental Europe’s classic brands and even more so when you think of Café Racers, making it one of the perfect manufacturers to choose when deciding what bike to base a custom build. But then you go and pick one of their heaviest bikes, all covered in plastic, weighing a gargantuan 500 lbs and with an enormously long wheelbase. It seems you like a challenge, we did more than up for our new build used a 2013 Motoguzzi V7 Classic as a donor bike. And please welcome THE SEAGATE!
Starting with the frame, we removed an original sub frame and make way for flat and line with a handmade custom gas tank, custom original version we designed and built, scaled with a double seater in mind. Then converted the original rear shock to a 340 mm Ohlins Progressive rear shock. Up front we have mounted a set of 53-42 mm Upside Down forks to really improve handling and the outdated original wheels have been replaced with TK Japan Wheels 18X3.00 and 18X3.50 Inch and wrapped in Metzeler Karoo 3 120/80-18 & 150/70-18 for front and rear. To update the bikes braking performance we then mounted Tokico twin calipers at the front and a single Nissin caliper at the rear. Here comes the bodywork, a gastank, side cover and tiny front and rear fender with a minimalist style made from 1.2 mm galvanized material. After the bodywork was done, Komet Studio made his move! We choose candy blue white from Sikkens and decorated with a dark grey and silver simply line. One of our friend, Wawan Junx, put his magic hands with an art lettering and pinstripping at the side of tank and fender. Proud to both of you Guys!. Completing the last project, Rizoma riser and handlebar was selected to provide ‘the enjoyment of riding’. The DRL Aftermarket headlight and Motogadget Tiny Indicator was attached at the front. Akrapovic dual end muffler and custom 2 in 2 exhaust was selected to drag up the modern classic theme with a strong sound.
Anybody got a V7 they aren’t using? For some reason, we’ve got a sudden urge to make one freakishly unusable for ourselves.
