With the world of small custom bikes booming globally and being far more affordable than the outlandish choppers that were so popular 10 years ago, it’s no wonder for peoples are using custom bikes as their pride. When you’re a surf store that focuses on the vintage look, a tough flat tracker is the perfect choice. One 2014 Yamaha Scorpio 225 with extra classic white combined with red stripes and nice ass please! This Scorpio Flat Tracker is the work of us after receiving instructions from the bikes owner to rebuild it in the style of modern flattrack. Our final design was a bike featured the desired classic looks with a touch of modern styling necessitated by limited local resources.
The bikes hand formed custom tank and rear cowl are made from 1.2 mm galvanized plate and the beautifully finished seat was covered in house. The classic white paint with red stripes and Yamaha logo were done by Komet Studio in Jakarta, who finished the bodywork using sikkens wood varnish, giving it a “permanent wet look effect” (that’s a first!). A set of more TK Japan wheels 18X3.00 inch and 18X3.50 inch were fit with Dunlop K180 series 120/90-18 & 130/80-18 for front and rear. We underwent some aesthetic customization to match the style of the rest of the build. For front forks we choose from one of the popular 41 mm telescopic suspension ex. Yamaha Byson 150 that instantly transform the bikes handling and appearance. Look at the rear…!, custom handmade swing arm using 1.25 inch seamless pipe were fit with 360 mm YSS Z-Series rear shock, totally changed from an original that using monoshock suspension. A set of fatbar handlebars and a bates style custom headlight sits between them, mounted on the lower triple tree.
To look at the bike now it’s hard to believe that it’s Yamaha Scorpio. We states that modify this bike with the purpose of earning their customers satisfaction and pride. I think we can safely assume they have done that with this build. So….please welcome “THE STABBED”.
